LEAVING P.E.I.

Tuesday, September 6

We spent most of today with Goldie and Gilbert Gillis they were very kind to us they showed us Eleanor Gillis's art studio (beautiful paintings on canvas, wood, shells, sea glass and rocks), fed us on wonderful clam chowder and gave us a demonstration of how to fish for oysters.  We were going to go clam digging but the weather was awful today, lots of rain and very windy, so we will have to come back to P.E.I. and do the clam dig next time.  We then drove down to Point Prim lighthouse and saw the chowder house and beach house that the Gillis's sold this year.  Point Prim lighthouse was the first one on the island and the first round brick lighthouse.  Goldie and Gilbert had the first wedding at the first lighthouse in P.E.I. back in 1974. We were once again shown that the beauty of this island is not just the natural surroundings but more so the people.  Now we are over at Wood Islands where we are waiting to take the ferry across to Nova Scotia.
