LAST DAYS IN NEWFOUNDLAND

Tuesday, September 13

Today was mostly a driving day.  Before we got on the road we stopped in and said 'hi' to Ron Kearley's sister Anne and her husband Bob Hipditch, the girls and I had met them at Echo lake when we met up with the Roy and Ann family.  Lots of beautiful sunshine but our day consisted of mostly just driving past lots of trees and rocks.

Wednesday, September 14

Happy Birthday, Gail!
We had spent the night in Gros Morne National Park and took a half hour walk around a little lake late this morning, the path was names Moose Path but we only saw moose tracks.  The land around here is incredible - rock made up of millions of layers of thin rock topped with a small layer of soil and covered with moss, trees, shrubs and all kinds of vegetation.  The weather was not working in our favour today but at least it wasn't cold, just foggy.  We took a boat tour of Bonne Bay and got to see the area as the earlier explorers would have seen it back in the 1400's because most of the land has remained unchanged.
We made it back to Deer Lake for Wednesday night bible study in an old folks home - very small meeting room but very nice fellowship.

  Tree growing over a rock.

Hiking around the lake we camped by.

An old root cellar.

Incredible rock around the Bonne Bay.

We were hoping to see a whale or moose but we saw this big black bear instead.

One of the small communities on the bay.

We got some live entertainment by the boat crew before we disembarked.

Thursday, September 15

We were on the road around 6:30 this morning hoping to get on the 11:30 ferry back to Nova Scotia.  We arrived at the ferry terminal at 9:45 - too late so we now are waiting for the next ferry 11:45pm.  Very foggy so good day to catch up on emails and blogs.  :)
